Henry C. ‘Hank’ Vette

COLBY — Henry C. “Hank” Vette, 89, of Colby, died Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at Hays Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 30, 1925, in Levant, Kansas, to Henry D. and Edith (Atkins) Vette.
Hank married Eileen Eddy on Dec. 25, 1947, in Osborne.  He was a United States Army veteran, serving in WWII and the Korean War, and was a member of the American Legion and VFW.  He owned Vette Appliance, was a manager at the Case dealership and spent 31 years working for Ford-New Holland as a zone manager.  Hank enjoyed wood working, repairing and refinishing furniture and was active in restoring the Cooper Barn. He was a member of the St. Thomas Masonic Lodge for 52 years and the Colby United Methodist Church.
Hank is survived by his children, Carolyn K. (William) Hedge, Plymouth, Mass.; Tamera R. Jones, Great Bend; and Jerry K. (Sherry) Vette, Garden City; six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; grandson Jerry K. Vette Jr. and 12 siblings.
Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday at Baalmann Mortuary, Colby.  Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Colby United Methodist Church.
