ELLINWOOD — Howard Wallace, 81, passed away at Ellinwood District Hospital on September 26, 2018 in Ellinwood, KS. Howard was born April 1, 1937 in Kingman, KS to James & Opal Wallace Herbert (Nunnemaker). He graduated from Kingman H.S. and later Kansas State University with a Master of Science in Agriculture. 

He married Margie Buckbee on July 12, 1981 in Ellinwood, KS. She survives. Howard was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Ellinwood, the EHS School Board, and Lions Club. He was also a longtime blood donor. 

Howard taught school in Gypson, Oakley and Ellinwood. He taught Voc. Ag. in Ellinwood and was on the Ag. Alumni Board at Kansas State University for 3 years. His Voc. Ag. students took first place at the Kansas State Fair 9 years in a row. He provided animals for the Kiddie Barnyard at the State Fair and his Vo-Ag. students furnished theirs. Howard was always the first to help when someone needed it. He had a big heart and gave selflessly to those in need. 

Survivors include wife, Margie Wallace, Ellinwood, KS; brother, David Wallace (Glennie), Kingman, KS; sisters, Darlene Linn, Kingman, KS, Dolly Laede (Jim), Larned, KS, Donna Younger (Dave), Hays, KS. Other survivors include many beloved nieces, nephews, and other family members. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Bill, Jack and John Wallace; and brother in law, James Linn. 

Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Ellinwood, KS with Pastor Bill Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Lakin-Comanche Cemetery, Ellinwood. Visitation will be Friday, September 28, 2018 from 1-7 PM with family present from 5-7 PM at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood, KS. Memorials are suggested to Ellinwood Hospital Foundation, Immanuel United Church of Christ, or Ellinwood Country Living in care of Minnis Chapel, PO Box 246, Ellinwood, KS 67526.
