Hugh Robert “Bud” Steadman, 90, died June 21, 2015, at Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood. Born May 23, 1925, in Great Bend, he was the son of Frank M. and Blanche Marie (Sterling) Steadman. On July 14, 1946, he married Delores June Schenkel in Bazine. She died on April 28, 2015. A lifetime resident of Great Bend, he was an engineering technician for Evans, Bierly and Hutchison.
Mr. Steadman was a United States Army Air Corps veteran, serving with the 8th Air Force during World War II in the European Theater. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, American Legion Argonne Post 180, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3111, B. P. O. Elks Lodge #1127, and Order of Eastern Star Golden Sheaf Chapter #226, all of Great Bend.
Survivors include one son, Dennis Robert Steadman and his wife Stephanie of Kennewick, Wash.; two daughters, Debra Sue Losch and her husband James of Oswego, Ill., and Laurie Lea Bard and her husband Larry of Great Bend; one sister, Lois A. Hazard of Topeka; one brother, Bill G. Steadman and his wife Wilma of Great Bend; five grandchildren, Matthew Robert Steadman and wife Nina, Meghan (Losch) Farej and her husband Matt, Tyler Steadman and his wife Breanne, Brendan Losch, and Amber (Steadman) Lendin and her husband Brian; five great-grandchildren, Ella June Steadman, Mason James Farej, Ariana Jo Steadman, Maddon Robert Farej and Michaela Farej; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Jack Steadman.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 27, at the First United Methodist Church in Great Bend with the Rev. Lennie Maxwell officiating. Burial will be at the Great Bend Cemetery with military rites by the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.,  with the family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m., on Friday at Bryant Funeral Home.
