Irvin A. Rose, 78, of Great Bend, died Oct. 15 at Great Bend Regional Hospital. He was born March 26, 1932, at the family farm in Stafford County, the son of Chester and Mary (Krkosska) Rose. He married Joyce L. Burhenn Oct. 6, 1956, at Ellinwood. He was a farmer and stockman. He was a Great Bend resident since 2004, coming from Hudson.
Mr. Rose was a United States Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. He attended First Christian Church, Great Bend.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce L., of the home; one son, Marvin Rose and wife Kathy of Great Bend; two daughters, Marilyn Holinde and husband Gerard of Great Bend and Nancy Rice and husband David of Stafford; one sister, Irene Walls of St. John; one brother, William Rose of Great Bend; 13 grandchildren, Christopher Holinde, Andrew Holinde, Daniel Holinde, John Rice, Jason Rice, Nicholas Rose, Genesis Rose, Priscilla Rose, Melissa Rose, Megan Holinde, Abigail Rose, Amber Lloyd and April Grandclair; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by six brothers and one sister.
Funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church, Great Bend, with Pastor Roy Savage and the Rev. William F. Johnson officiants. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Great Bend, with military honors conducted by a Fort Riley Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Bryant Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Donations to memorial funds for First Christian Church or for Grace Community Church may be made in care of the funeral home.
