Jack B. Stairrett 1934 - 2011

JETMORE — Jack B. Stairrett, 77, died Oct. 21, 2011 at the Hays Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 2, 1934, in Winfield, the son of Leonard L. and Louisa M. Frusher Stairrett. On Sept. 3, 1955, he married Edna Green in Fayetteville, N.C. She survives. He was a farmer and stockman.
Mr. Stairrett served in the United States Army’s 82nd Airborne Division from 1952-1955. He was of the Christian faith. He was a member of the American Legion, a lifetime member of the Kansas State Historical Society, USD 227 school board, Fairmount cemetery board, trustee for Valley Township, Rakkasans Paratrooper 187th, a life member 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Team and a former member of the Masonic Lodge. He Past Master at Jetmore Lodge No. 292, Scottish Rite, York Rite, Midian Shriner and a Dodge City Shrine Clown for many years.
Other survivors include, two sons, Andy and Joe Stairrett, both of Jetmore; a daughter, Jaci Dumler and husband Randy, Ness City; a brother, Clair Stairrett, Olympia, Wash.; two sisters, Sandra Stum, Towner, Colo. and Barbara Dunn, Ellinwood; seven grandchildren, Amanda Stairrett, Stephanie Dumler, Danny Dumler, Lee Stairrett, Linda Schlotthauer and husband Trent, Grant Stairrett, Colt Stairrett; three great grandchildren, Alexis Swinney, Aiden Schlotthauer, and Braydin Schlotthauer. He was preceded in death by a son, Phillip William Stairrett.
A  graveside service was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Fairmount Cemetery, in Jetmore, with Pastor Dennis Fulton presiding. Burial was at the Fairmount Cemetery in Jetmore. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the Jack Stairrett Scholarship Fund in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be left at www.beckwithfuneralhome.com.
