James A. Lofland, 62, died Jan. 3, 2015, at Great Bend Regional Hospital. He was born April 27, 1952, at Great Bend, the son of James R. and Joyce L. (Mohr) Lofland. He married Karen Sander Feb. 23, 1974, at Great Bend. A lifetime resident of Great Bend, Jim was a welder for McDonald Tank and Equipment Inc. for more than 40 years, and also formerly owned and operated Lofland Landscape Turf & Irrigation.


He was a member of Central Baptist Church, Great Bend. He touched many lives through his generosity and gentle spirit.


Survivors include his wife, Karen Lofland, of the home; parents, James and Joyce Lofland, Great Bend; one son, James J. “Joel” Lofland and his wife Peni of Great Bend; one daughter, Nicole Lofland of West Des Moines, Iowa; two granddogs, Wrigley and Riley; one brother, Jerry Lofland of Great Bend; four sisters, Janna Huschka of Hutchinson, Jill Hopper of Arvada, Colo., Julia Barnes of Great Bend, and Jacqueline Goosen of Freeman, S.D.


Vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Monday, January 5, at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorial Service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Central Baptist Church in Great Bend with the Rev. John Grummon and the Rev. Dick Ogle as officiants. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to the Golden Belt Humane Society or Central Baptist Church, in care of the funeral home.
