MEDICINE LODGE — James D. McMahan, 82, of Medicine Lodge, Kan., died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2019, at Medicine Lodge Memorial Hospital. He was born on Nov. 15, 1936, in Great Bend, Kan., the son of Hubert McMahan and Sylvia (Brown) McMahan.
James was a member of the First Christian Church, Medicine Lodge, Kan., and a U.S. Navy Veteran.
Surviving are four children, Belinda (Gary) Bagby of Hutchinson, Kan., James Bryan (Mary) McMahan of Grandbury, Texas, Debra (Earl) VanRanken of Medicine Lodge, Kan., and Jerry Duane McMahan of Great Bend, Kan.; eight grandchildren, Michael Ashley, Ryan Keast, Jason (Tara) McMahan, Aubrey (Chris) Broach, Katlyn West, Kilie West, Earl (Callie) VanRanken, III and Nikki VanRanken; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Jerry and Jack McMahan.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb. 15, 2019, at 10 a.m. at the First Christian Church, Medicine Lodge, Kan., with Pastor Tom Walters officiating. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at the Great Bend Cemetery, Great Bend, Kan.
