ELLINWOOD — James Patrick Kasselman, 91, passed at Ellinwood District Hospital on Aug. 3rd, 2024 surrounded by loved ones. “Pat” was born on March 17, 1933 on the family farm in rural Ellinwood, Kan. to parents Ben and Nanee (Fletcher) Kasselman. A lifetime Ellinwood resident he graduated from Ellinwood HS in 1951 and later served in the United States Air Force where he spent time overseas. He married Jenny Roth on Jan. 23, 1965 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ellinwood. Pat worked as a pumper for FG Holl for over 40 years before retirement in 1998. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, working with his dogs, raising quail, and trips with family. He was a member of American Legion Post #320.
Pat was preceded in death by siblings Calvin Kasselman, Larry Dean Kasselman, Katherine Meeker, Doris Burhen, and Audra Newll.
Survivors include wife of almost 60 years Jenny Kasselman; sons, Kyle (Melinda) Kasselman and Kevin Kasselman; daughter Jamie Komarek; sister, Charlene Achatz (Bill), all of Ellinwood, Kan. Other survivors include eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 7th at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood with Father Terrance Klein officiating. Interment will follow with military honors at Lakin-Comanche Cemetery, Ellinwood. Visitation will take place Aug. 6th from 12-6 p.m. with family receiving friends from 5-6 p.m. at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood.
