James Retzlaff 1951 - 2012

HOISINGTON — James Retzlaff, 61, died Dec. 12, 2012 at Hays Medical Center.
Born July 7, 1951 in Tildon, Neb., he was the son of Lawrence and Lena (Gear) Retzlaff. On July 1, 2001, he married Beverly Peck in Great Bend. He was a resident of Hoisington since 2001, coming from Salina.
Mr. Retzlaff served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a member of the Hoisington Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7248. He enjoyed spending time with family, playing on the computer, dogs, visiting military museums and supporting the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly Retzlaff, of the home; three sons, Jacob Blake, James Blake and Josh Blake; five daughters, Darlena Ryan, Jenifer Cool, Amber Retzlaff, Nicole Potter and Holly Boese; five brothers, Ervin Retzlaff, Donald Retzlaff, Ronald Retzlaff, George Retzlaff and David Retzlaff; and numerous grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Hoisington with Pastor Kris Brinlee officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Hoisington Cemetery. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to the James Retzlaff Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
