Janis L. Coe, 77, died Sept. 11, 2016, at her home. Born July 21, 1939, in Harper she was the daughter of Jesse Russell and Mary Olive (Whorton) Brown. She was a 1957 graduate of Harper High School. On July 13, 1959, she married Elmer Leroy Coe at Caldwell. He preceded her in death April 5, 2013. A two year resident of Great Bend, moving there from Otis, she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Coe attended CrossPoint Church in Great Bend.
Survivors include three sons, Russell Coe of Otis, Thomas Coe (companion, Dena Galliart), of Great Bend, and Kenneth Lyon of Emporia; two daughters, Minnie Brown (Cliff), of Roff, Okla., and Emily Steele, Otis; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Charlotte Friend of Anthony. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Harry David Brown; and three sisters, Catherine Brown, Clara Coffey and Emily Rose.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17 at the Harper City Cemetery. Interment will be in the Harper City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Janis L. Coe Memorial Fund.
