ABILENE – Jean C. Coleman, 81, passed away Sept. 19, 2014, in Salina.
She was born March 11, 1933 in Columbus, Ohio, the daughter of George and Eva (Nerney) Rambo.
Growing up in Columbus, she attended local schools and graduated from Central High School. On Oct. 29, 1951, she was married to Jack Coleman in Columbus. Their married life was spent in McPherson, Great Bend and Dodge City. Jean had been employed by USD 443 as a food service manager. He preceded her in death April 23, 1986.
In 2011, she moved to Abilene. Jean was also preceded in death by an infant son, Christopher Steven Coleman.
Survivors include seven daughters, Carol (Ken) Wondra, Enterprise; Joan (Rick) Green, Payton, Colo.; Barbara Swaim, Newport News, Va.; Jennifer (Scott) Vanderpool, Meade; Christina (Bryan) Thompson, Sharnhauser Park, Germany; Karen Coleman, Topeka; Lisa Corean, Cheney, Wash.; two sons, Michael (Karen) Coleman, Huntingtontown, Md.; and Tom (Marcia) Coleman, Great Bend.
The family has chosen cremation. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Monday at the Community Bible Church in Abilene with Pastor Jonathan Wenger officiating. A private family inurnment will follow at a later date.
The family suggests memorial contributions in her name be made to the Frontier Estates Social Fund. They may be left at the church the day of the service or left at or sent in care of the Danner Funeral Home, PO Box 758, Abilene, KS, 67410.
