Jennie J. Byerley 1914 - 2011

GREAT BEND — Jennie J. Byerley, 97, died Aug. 1, 2011 at Good Samaritan Center in Ellsworth.
She was born June 6, 1914 at Romine Township, Ill., the daughter of William and Amanda (Lawrence) Halfacre.
On Nov. 19, 1937, she married Harold Byerley in Saint Charles, Mo. He died May 27, 1974.
A resident of Great Bend since 1939, she moved to Ellsworth in 2005, coming from Salem, Ill. She was a cashier for Gibson’s Discount Center and was a caregiver.
Mrs. Byerley was a member of the First United Methodist, CKMC Auxiliary, RSVP, Senior Center Advisory Board and Silver and Gold Club, all of Great Bend.
Survivors include a son, Alan Byerley and wife Linda, Ellsworth;; a daughter, Cheryl James, Spokane, Wash.,; five grandchildren, Kimberlee McIntyre, Snohomish, Wash.; Stacey Walker, Lenexa; Lincoln Byerley, Ellsworth; Jeffrey Byerley of the Philippine Islands, and Judea Beevers, Loveland, Colo.; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers and eight sisters.
Funeral services are scheduled at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4 at Bryant Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Sheldon officiating. Burial will be at the Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may visit from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday, all at the funeral home.
