PAULS VALLEY, Oklahoma — Jerome G. “Cowboy” Deines, 87, passed away July 14, 2022, at Medicalodges of Great Bend. He was born on August 2, 1934, in Hays, Kan, to Bernhardt and Josephine (Krug) Deines. He married Dolores “June” Norris April 12, 1953, in Russell, Kan. She died April 17, 2017.

A longtime resident of Pauls Valley, Okla., Cowboy also resided in Great Bend and Russell, Kan. for many years. The oil field being Cowboy’s life passion, he was the owner and operator of Cowboys Oil Field Products, Bronco Supply and MJR Investments, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Cowboy enjoyed raising his cattle and race horses. He and June loved to spend time traveling with friends. When he saw someone in need he always stepped up to help. Cowboy worked hard and liked to celebrate life.

Survivors include, his son, Jerry Deines of Pauls Valley, Okla.; two daughters, Connie Cale and husband Chet of Great Bend, Kan. and Raelene Steinert of Norman, Okla.; a brother, Steve Deines of Russell, Kan.; six grandchildren, Nicole Helfrich, Autumn Cale, Callie Cale (Gavin Rondeau), Cody Cale (Tammi), Tanner Cale and Lisa Espinoza; and six great-grandchildren, Matilda Cale Rondeau, Henri Cale Rondeau, Arthur Cale Rondeau, Sophia Cale, Lincoln Cale and Gabriela Espinoza. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, June Norris; a daughter-in-law, Cathy Deines; and a brother, Kenneth Deines. 

Funeral services for Cowboy are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2022 in the Wooster Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Joel Downing officiating. Masonic Committal Services will be held. Interment will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home.

The family has requested memorials be made to St. Jude’s Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis Tennessee 38101-9908 or to Shriner’s Hospital for Children, P.O. Box 1525, Ransom, WV 25438.

A Celebration of Life and luncheon will be held at Chet and Connie’s home in Great Bend, Kan., Saturday, July 23, at noon.
