GARDEN CITY — Jerry Duayne Orebaugh, 75, died Monday, Nov. 13, 2023, at his home in Garden City, Kan. He was born May 23, 1948, in Great Bend, Kan., the son of Leo Wilson and Edna Irene (Jurgensen) Orebaugh.
Jerry grew up in Great Bend, Kan. where he attended schools and graduated from Great Bend High School in 1967. He later lived in Manhattan, Kan., Wichita, Kan., and McPherson, KS before moving to Garden City in 1977 to work for his very good friend Al Chappel and his family. He later moved to Ashland, KS before returning back to Garden City. Jerry spent most of his working career in retail but was most known for his local and corporate management of lumber yards. Jerry was well respected in every community that he was a part of and had a humble heart, generous spirit, and was well known for his kindness.
Survivors include three children Jeff (Choiseul) Orebaugh of Garden City, Kab., Suzie (Matt) Swenson of Menomonie, Wisc., and Joey (Hazel) Orebaugh of Wilsey, Kan.; grandchildren Micah, Caleb, Jadon, Levi, Justus, Joshua, Hosanna, Jeremiah, Judah, Hallielujah, Hannah, Braidyn Orebaugh, Liv Swenson, and Kai Swenson; great-grandchildren Arielle, Elijah, Adalynn, Zekiah, Arianna, Emma, and Esme Orebaugh; his step-children Alvin Howard, Regina Howard, and Terry Howard; and numerous more grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jerry will also be remembered and loved by his two sisters Ulanda Jackman of Pratt, Kan. and Jolene Peters of Great Bend, Kan.; and a brother Randy Orebaugh of Great Bend, Kan. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2023, at Turning Point Church of the Nazarene in Garden City, Kan. with Rev. Chad Ulrich officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Visitation hours are from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City.
