NESS CITY — Jerry Keith Reinert, 72, died April 5, at the Hodgeman County Health Center in Jetmore. Born Nov, 14, 1938 on the farm in Southeast Ness County, he was the son of Henry and Alice Petersilie Reinert. A lifetime resident of Ness County and the Riverside community, he was a farmer. On May 2, 1965 he married Hazel Stewart at Scott City. She preceded him in death on March 19, 2005.
Mr. Reinert was a United States Army veteran. He was a member of the WaKeeney Veterans of Foreign War, a Past Commander of the American Legion Frank Stull Post 152 and a Past Commander of District Eight. Jerry started bingo night at the Ness City American Legion and he was an avid bowler.
Survivors include his son, Donald K. Reinert who is serving on the USS George Washington in the Sea of Japan; three brothers, Carl, Ralph, and Larry all of Ness City; two sisters: Virginia Turley of Scott City and Gladys Hilmes of Ness City; granddaughter, Taylor Reinert; and his companion and caretaker Dillie Snodgrass of Ness City. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Marion, Orlyn and Eugene.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home in Ness City with Pastor Jon Anderson presiding. Burial will be at the Ness City Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Legion Frank Stull Post 152.
