Jesus Hernandez, 64, died June 8 at Via Christi St. Francis Regional Medical Center, Wichita. He was born Oct. 6, 1949, at Manuel Benavidos, Chihuahua, Mexico, the son of Justiniano and Esperanza (Carrasco) Hernandez. He married Antonia Hernandez on June 12, 1974, at Chihuahua. A Great Bend resident for 17 years, coming from Chihuahua, he worked for Mid-America Feeders as a cowboy until he was unable to work.
Survivors include his wife Antonia, of the home; three sons, Ramon Hernandez and his wife Lucina of Great Bend, Victor Hernandez and his wife Lorena of Blair, Neb., and Jesus Hernandez and his wife Amy of Blair, Neb.; one daughter, Elisama Serrano and her husband Benjamin of Midland, Texas; seven sisters, Eliberta Madrid, Maria Madrid, Elena Hernandez, Ermelinda Galindo and Arabelia Galindo, all of Chihuahua, Mexico, Angelica Olivas of Midland, Texas, and Catalina Hernandez of Odessa, Texas; and two brothers, Pedro Hernandez of Great Bend, and Artemio Hernandez of Chihuahua, Mexico. He was preceded in death by one brother, Maximo Hernandez, and one sister, Martina Ortiz.
Funeral service will be at 6 p.m. Tueday, June 10, at Asamblea Apostólica, 3920 Forest Ave., Great Bend. Graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday at Great Bend Cemetery North, with Pastor Athias Rodriguez, officiant. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
