Jim S. Cain, 66, died Sept. 13 at his home in Great Bend. Born Nov. 27, 1947 at Great Bend, he was the son of Benjamin and Stephanie (Schenk) Cain.
He married Robin Rickert Jan. 4, 1997 at Great Bend. He was an oilfield pumper and producer for Ritchie Exploration and other oil companies.
Mr. Cain was a lifetime Great Bend, resident. He served in the Army Reserve. He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Great Bend; Kansas Independent Oil and Gas Association (KIOGA), and Hoisington Stop-2-Shop Coffee Club. Mr. Cain quietly supported many organizations, requesting no recognition, including REACH and Pheasants Forever.
Survivors include his wife, Robin Cain, of the home; two sons: Chris Cain and his wife Susan of Topeka, and Steve Cain of Great Bend; three step-sons: Troy Munden and his wife Wendy of Gardner, KS, Rob Munden and his wife Julie of Larned, and Paul Spon of Arkansas; one step-daughter, Christy Dickerman of Florida; one sister, Karen Perry-Hayes and husband Vernon of Great Bend; and 16 grandchildren: Brittany, Benjamin, Lizzie, Tommy, Ryleigh, Justin, Tara, Austin, Hayden, Chase, Dallas, Maverick, Mia, Amanda, Aaron, and Adon. He was preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Dale Perry.
Vigil service will be at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Sept, 17 at Bryant Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 18 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend with Father Ted Stoecklein officiating. Interment will be at Great Bend Cemetery North, Great Bend. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 17, at Bryant Funeral Home.
