ELLINWOOD — Jimmy Dale Wornkey, 83, passed away Nov. 25, 2017, at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita.
Jim was born Aug. 10, 1934 in Caney. He married Theresa Apel on April 9, 1953.
Survivors include his five children, sons Mark Wornkey, Horsham, PA., Brian Wornkey, Newcastle, Wyo., Chris Wornkey, Hutchinson; daughters Kim VanDusen, Wichita, and Leah Beale, Wichita; brothers, Don Wornkey, St John, Jerry Wornkey, Ellinwood, Tom Wornkey, Ellinwood, Steve Wornkey, Great Bend, Tim Wornkey, Ellinwood; sister Pam Nowak, Holcomb; 23 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-greatchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa; parents, Roy and Maxine Wornkey; son-in-law, Art Beale; sister-in-law, Sally Sigley and Gladis Apel; and brother-in-law Harry Apel.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 30, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Ellinwood with Father Terrance Klein officiating. Burial will follow at Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery in Ellinwood. Visitation will be from 1-5 p.m. on Wednesday at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood. Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in care of the funeral home.
