GREAT BEND — Joan C. “Jo” Rosenbaum, 67, died August 30, 2011 at the Ellsworth County Medical Center.
She was born April 14, 1944 at Great Bend, the daughter of Andrew John and Bessie Ruth (Griffin) Dueser.
She married Gary Rodger Rosenbaum June 2, 1969 at Miami, Okla. He died November 13, 1973. She worked for Westgate Beauty Salon as a hairdresser. Mrs. Rosenbaum was a lifetime Great Bend resident.
She attended Pawnee Rock public schools, graduating in 1962. She played trumpet in marching band, pep band, concert band and dance band. She graduated from Sydney’s Hairdressing College in 1963, working as an owner and hairdresser for 40 years. She also worked part-time at the Medicine Shoppe for 15 years.
She was a member of the Barton Community College Booster Club Board for three years. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was an avid sports fan, especially enjoying Barton Community College athletics.
Survivors include a son, Brent R. Rosenbaum, Great Bend; a daughter, Shawnda Heimerman and husband Jim, Hutchinson; three grandchildren, Colyn Heimerman, Kirstyn Heimerman and Taitlyn Heimerman; a nephew, Terry Dueser, Wichita; a niece, Shelly Herring and husband Paul, Frontenac; and a beloved dog Jordan.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Russell Lee Dueser.
A funeral service is scheduled at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 3 at the Bryant Funeral Home with Officiant The Reverend James A. Strasen. Interment will be at the Great Bend Cemetery North.
Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2 with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bryant Funeral Home.
