HAYS — The Hays Thomas More Monarch pitchers shut down the Cardinals in a 4-1 and 11-0 baseball sweep over Hoisington Tuesday.

The Monarchs (16-0) stayed unbeaten while the Cardinals dropped to 6-12.

HAYS TMP 4, CARDINALS 1 (G1) — Monarch starter Logan Baalman set the tone with six strikeouts in four shutout innings.

Hoisington pitcher Kaydin Umphrey (1-1, 4.76 ERA) yielded one earned run. Brodie Crites walked and scored on a seventh-inning wild pitch.

Monarch Grant Nehls singled home Ian Nehls in the first. Baalman's single scored Carson Liles and Ty Schmeidler single scored Grant Nehls in the fifth. Ian Nehls scored on a sixth-inning error.

HAYS TMP 11, CARDINALS 0 (G1) — Monarch pitcher Caden Dinkel threw 42/3 shutout innings with five strikeouts. Drake Martin and Bentley Corbett singled.

The Cardinals walked nine Monarchs and hit six batters with a pitch. Five Monarchs delivered an RBI.
