ST. JOHN — John Florez Garcia, 52, died Sept. 21 at Stafford County Hospital. Born May 23, 1958, in St. John, he was the son of Modesto and Ventura Garcia. A life-long resident of St. John, he was director of staff development at Res-Care Pathways from 1987-2010.

Survivors include a son, Antonio of Wichita; two daughters, Teresa Garcia of Douglas and Amelia Garcia of Wichita; five brothers, Roque of Stockton, Theodore of Wichita, Luis of Hutchinson, and Jesse and Nick, both of St. John; four sisters, Margarita Kent, Mary Peschka and Lupe Hudson, all of St. John, and Sally Devena of Buhler; and one grandchild. Funeral Mass will be 3 p.m. Friday at St. John The Apostle Catholic Church with Father Floyd McKinney, celebrant. Burial will be at the Fairview Park Cemetery in St. John. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. on today with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Hospice Care of Kansas or Love Gift to family in care of the funeral home
