HUTCHINSON — John Francis Bardwell, 87, died June 19, 2024, at his home. He was born Nov. 21, 1936, in Plew, Mo., to Walter Paul Bardwell and Oleta Belle (Bowman) Bardwell.
John served in the United States Army. He was employed and worked as a mechanic at Sears, Walmart, and Orscheln Farm and Home. John and his brother enjoyed riding their motorcycles in the area, but also took longer trips to many of the states located in the central region of the United States. He was a member of First Christian Church, Hutchinson, Ks.
On Oct. 25, 1965, he married Beverly Jean Frantz in the chapel at First Christian Church, Hutchinson, Ks. They shared over 58 years of marriage.
John is survived by his wife, Beverly Bardwell of Hutchinson, Ks.; children, Gary (Sue) Bardwell of Virginia, and Gina Bardwell of Hutchinson, Ks.; siblings, Jim (Donna) Bardwell of Joshua, Texas, Linda Ruth Younger of Florida, and Mary Doonan of Wichita, Ks.; one grandson; three granddaughters; two great-granddaughters; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ann Tissue; and niece, Robin Deming.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday, June 28, 2024, at Fairlawn Burial Park, 2401 Carey Boulevard, Hutchinson, Ks. Military honors will be conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard. Friends may sign the book from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 23, 2024, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, July 24, 2024, through Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Elliott Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Gentiva Hospice or Cancer Council of Reno County, in care of Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
