HOISINGTON - John H. Luerman, Sr., 88, passed away October 16, 2020, at his home in Hoisington, Kansas.  He was born March 1, 1932, on the family farm north of Susank, the son of Herman C. and Mathilda A. (Meyeres) Luerman.  John graduated from Hoisington High School in 1950.  He later enlisted in the United States Air Force serving from 1952 to 1955. 

On December 29, 1962, he married Phyllis N. Neal in Hoisington. She preceded him in death just 8 days ago, on October 8, 2020. 

A lifetime Hoisington area resident, John was a farmer and also spent time working in the oil field.  He was a member of the American Legion Post #286.  John enjoyed bowling and playing cards, and time spent with family and friends.

Survivors include three sons; John Luerman and wife Amy of rural Susank, Andy Luerman and wife Becky of Ashland, and Billy Luerman of Susank; six grandchildren, Shyla Goodnight (Aaron), Anthony Luerman, Jay Luerman (Joanna), Shelby Luerman, Damon Luerman (Peanut) and J.J. Luerman; two great grandchildren, Lane Luerman and Tucker Goodnight; a sister-in-law, Sallie Hager of Claflin; and two brothers-in-law; Cecil Neal of Oregon, Wis. and Willis Neal of Overland Park.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 19, 2020, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, with Pastor Don Fisher.  Interment with military honors will follow at Hoisington Cemetery, Hoisington. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, October 18th, 2020.
