HUTCHINSON — John “John T.” Briscoe, Jr., 71, died Feb. 17, 2012, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.
He was born May 23, 1940, in rural Rice County to John Thomas and Bethel I. Reynolds Briscoe.
John worked as an engineer for Eaton-Cessna, Centel Electric and Primus Sterilizing. He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, American Legion, Clay County Township Board, and was a camp host at Wilson Lake. John served in the Air Force and Air National Guard. On March 31, 1961, he married Elsie Gustason in Wilson. She survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Theresa Mass and husband David; a son, John M. Briscoe and wife Jessica; with a granddaughter Raven Jewel Briscoe due March 25, 2012; sisters, Ellen Newton, Nancy Maskus and husband Bob; Janice Kelp and husband Don; Margaret Foreman, Mary Ross and husband Tom; Susan Glenn; a brother, Paul Briscoe and wife Jill; and Jack Russell Terriers, Zuk and Dutchess; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
A Funeral Service is scheduled at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 24 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 407 E. 12th, with Reverend Chad Trunkhill officiating. Burial will be in Bean Cemetery in Little River.
Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23 with family to receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice House, Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, or Reno County Cancer Council, in care of the mortuary.
