John R. Elliott, 86, died Feb. 11, 2013 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. He was born March 20, 1926 at La Junta, Colo. the son of William Claude and Edna Gertrude (Elliott) Elliott.
He married Peggy L. Allen Dec. 21, 1947 at Phoenix, Ariz. Mr. Elliott was a Great Bend resident since 1975 coming from Dodge City. He was a United States Navy veteran, serving during World War II.  
He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church; Knights of Columbus Council 862, Great Bend; Prefect of Holy Name Society, president of Sacred Heart School Board, DDP chairman at Sacred Heart, Grand Knight for the Dodge City Knights of Columbus Council, served as lector and song leader on the Dodge City Parish Council and was a lector in Great Bend.  He was Boy Scout Troop Master at Sacred Heart in Dodge City for seven years.  
Mr. Elliott was in the auto business since 1951, and was the Pontiac, Chevrolet, Geo, Jeep, Eagle, and Volkswagen dealer in Great Bend from 1975 to 2009. He received the Master Sales Manager award.
He is survived by wife, Peggy L. Elliott, of the home; three sons, J. R. Elliott and wife Susan of Olathe, Chris Elliott and wife Sheryl of Great Bend, KS, and Brian Elliott and wife Mary of Great Bend; three daughters, Pat Westfall and husband Roger of Glenwood, Iowa, Pamela Pugliese and husband Steven of Staten Island, N.Y., and Deborah L. Wagner of Great Bend; one brother, Joseph Anthony Elliott of Calif.; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Vigil service with Knights of Columbus Rosary is at 7 p.m., Thursday at Bryant Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial is at 10:30 a.m., Friday,  at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Great Bend with Father Reginald A. Urban, officiating. Interment will be Golden Belt Memorial Park, Great Bend, with military rites by the United States Navy Honor Guard
Visitation is 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Holy Family School, in care of Bryant Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
