Hoisington — John Ray Breit, 53, died Oct. 25, 2016 at Via Christi St. Francis Regional Medical Center, Wichita. He was born Nov. 21, 1962, the son of Edwin “Ed” and Sophie (Richmeier) Breit. John married Merri L. Goodrich Sept. 19, 1992 at Hoisington.
A self-employed truck driver, John had been a Hoisington resident since 1964, coming from Great Bend.
John was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council #1521, both of Hoisington. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid baseball fan.
Survivors include his wife, Merri L. Breit, of the home; two sons, Jeremy Ray Breit and Jakob Wayne Breit, of the home; his mother, Sophie A. Breit, Hoisington; one brother, Richard J. “Rick” Breit and his wife Patricia of Great Bend and his nephew, Mat Breit of Great Bend.
John was preceded in passing by his father, Ed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hoisington. Inurnment will be at St. John Church Cemetery at a later date. There will be a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7 p.m, Friday, followed by a Vigil at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home Chapel in Hoisington. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 28, at the funeral home,
