Joy L. Cudney passed away on November 25, 2021, in Pratt, Kansas. She was born on June 7, 1924, in Trousdale, Kansas. Her four brothers – Thomas, Alexander, Doyn, and Charles – preceded her in death. She credited her older brother Thomas with her name, noting that he jumped for joy at having a baby sister.

Joy married Ray Earl Cudney on September 3, 1944, in Trousdale, Kansas. Together they built a life as farmers and raised four daughters: Barbara, Doris, Shirley, and Nancy. Joy was a member of the Trousdale United Methodist Church, where she was an active volunteer. She was also a member of the Extension Homemakers Unit, Order of the Eastern Star, and Master Farmer-Homemakers.  

 Joy leaves a legacy of kindness, grace, and resilience. She was devoted to her family and her community, living with generosity, warmth, and honesty. She will be greatly missed. Joy is survived by her four daughters, eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

A private service will be held with Pastor Brian Blackburn presiding. A private burial will follow at the Belpre Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Trousdale United Methodist Church, in care of Minnis Chapel, P.O. Box 34, St. John, KS 67576.
