WICHITA — Joy Louise Reed departed this life on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2016, peacefully in her home surrounded by close family and friends. Joy was born Aug. 21, 1929, near Laverne, Oklahoma. She graduated from St. John High School and met Delbert Reed. Joy and Delbert were married June 6, 1948.
Joy was an active member of several Baptist churches her entire life. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother.
She is survived by her husband Delbert; daughter Pat Hadley and husband Curtis of Grand Junction, Colo.; son Mike Reed and wife Karen of Wichita; grandchildren Crystal Reed, Jordan Reed and Meredith Hadley-Thornhill; great-grandchildren Sophie Suzanne Thornhill, Stella Marie Thornhill, Allison Grace Barkley and Kason Valor Dube; one brother, Ray E. Maddux and wife Patty of Elgin, Texas; and one sister, Nina Marie Maddux of West Wend, N.C.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017, at 10 a.m. at the Reflection Pointe funeral home, 3201 S. Webb Rd., Wichita. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. in St. John.
Joy requests in lieu of flowers, memorials are given in her name to Webster Conference Center in Salina or Via Christi Village at Georgetown in Wichita.
