RUSSELL — Julian H. Gonzales, 46, of Russell, died Oct. 6 north of Great Bend. Born July 2, 1966 in Tulia, Texas, he was the son of Larry and Mary Karlin (Garcia) Gonzales. At the age of 2, Julian and his family moved to Goodland, where he grew up and attended schools. On June 16, 1993 he married Vicky Werth in Victoria. He moved to Russell in 1997 after living in Hays, Gorham, and Victoria. He was employed by Brian Reddig on a pulling unit. Then he worked for Craig Oil as a pumper and rig operator. He worked in the oil patch for many years before going to work for Mike Weigel Construction.
He attended Catholic Church. He also was a member of The Men MC – Kansas Chapter.
Survivors include his wife Vicky of the home; daughter, Randalynn Werth of Victoria; three sons, Nathaniel Rollett of St. Joseph, Mo., and Ricky Gonzales and Ross Gonzales both of Russell; mother, Mary Karlin of Hays; two brothers, Austin Sepeda of Phoenix, Ariz. and Mark Sepeda of Seattle, Wash.; sister, Rose Rodriquez of Dallas, Texas; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Larry Gonzales; stepfather Alfred Karlin; brother Ricky Gonzales; and grandson Brody Ehrlich.
Celebration of the Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at St. Mary, Queen of Angels Catholic Church of Russell. Burial will follow at the St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Russell. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary. A Vigil and Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday evening at St. Mary, Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Memorials are suggested to the Julian Gonzales Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
