HOLTON — Julie A. Coverdale, 53, of Holton, passed away May 7 at her home. She was born March 2, 1961, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Donald E. and Paula “Jane” (Danner) Powers.
Julie graduated from Great Bend High School in 1979 and attended Kansas State University. She had lived in the Holton Community since 1990 and had also lived in Emporia and Topeka. Julie worked for Columbia Savings in Emporia; she was manager of Penn Place in Holton, and case manager for Monaco and Associates in Topeka and Holton Housing Authority. Julie loved attending her grandsons’ sporting events, going on family vacations, tending to her flowers on the back porch and spending time with her dog, Lillie.
Mrs. Coverdale was a past member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Great Bend and had been attending First United Methodist Church in Holton.
She married Douglas “Doug” Coverdale on Feb. 13, 1982, in Topeka. He survives of the home. Other survivors include her parents, Donald and Jane Powers of Great Bend; three daughters, Melissa Padavic (Dan) of Mission, Amy Brooks (Matt) of Meriden, and Sarah Coverdale of Merriam; two sisters, Linda Hogg (Dale) of Great Bend, and Colleen Gerstenkorn (Kevin) of Wichita; a brother, David Powers (Deana) of Fort Worth, Texas; and four grandsons, Aaron, Bryce, Tyson and Tucker.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will be at the Holton Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or Heartland Borderwalk Foundation for Multiple Sclerosis in care of the funeral home.
