HOISINGTON — Justin Andrew Umphrey, 25, passed away on July 28, 2022, at the University of Kansas Health System – Great Bend. He was born on July 28, 1997 at San Bernardino, Calif., to Jody Umphrey and Beckie Buck.

A resident of the Hoisington for the majority of his life residing in Junction City from 2017 to 2021, Justin was a mechanic at Heartland AG Systems. He proudly served his country in the Army National Guard, earning the rank of E-5 Sergeant, from 2016 to 2022. Justin enjoyed spending time with his family and making memories during high school football, wrestling, and baseball. 

Survivors include his dad, Jody Umphrey (Jennifer Stout) of Great Bend; his mother, Beckie Buck of Wellington; one sister, Tiffany Umphrey of Great Bend; four brothers, Jerrad, Jacob, and Kaydin Umphrey, all of Great Bend, and Corie Umphrey of Junction City; two grandmothers, Stephanie Thomas of Burton, Mich. and Barbara Smith of Great Bend; and one niece, Hazelyn. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Russell Thomas and Charles Buck.

Visitation will take place 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 31, 2022, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, with family receiving friends and memory sharing from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 1, 2022, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home with Victor Link presiding. There will be a private family burial at a later date. Memorials have been designated to the Sibling’s Education Fund, in care of Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, P.O. Box 146, Hoisington, KS, 67544.
