LACROSSE — Justin J. Urban, 77, died Sept. 4 at Rush County Memorial Hospital in La Crosse. Born Jan. 12, 1935, in Bison, he was the son of Wendelin and Rose Mary (Leiker) Urban.  He was a lifelong resident of Rush County, Kansas.  Attaining his GED from Barton County Community College in 1980, he was a plumber for Marlette Coach Company in Great Bend before his retirement. On May 8, 1976, he married Mary A. Pechanec at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Timken.
Mr. Urban was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council 2970, both in La Crosse.
Survivors include his wife, Mary A. Urban of La Crosse; five daughters, Julie Brown, and her significant other, Scott Kinder of Denton, Texas, Sherri Herrman, and her husband, Darryl Herrman and Wendy Seltman, and her husband, Luke Seltman, both of La Crosse, Tammy Orth of Dallas, Texas, and Megan Penka and her husband, Jason Penka, of Hays; six grandchildren, Mathew Brown, Jenna Brown, Tiffany Orth, Patrick McCarroll, Adrian McCarroll, and Nicholas Penka; two great-grandchildren, Margo Brown, and Sydney Brown; one brother, Norbert Urban; and five sisters, Bernita Clair of Ellinwood, Edna Giebler of Hays, Luceda Hager of Lyons, Doris Armstrong of Springfield, Mo., and Charlene Kreutzer of Great Bend. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Myrna (Jones) Urban (Nov. 3, 1974); one brother, Gilbert Urban; and one half sister, Alice Heep.
Funeral services  will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in La Crosse with Father Warren Stecklein officiating. Interment will be at the La Crosse City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the Janousek Funeral Home in La Crosse, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m. A vigil service and rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Rush County Memorial Hospital in La Crosse.
