Passing peacefully, Karen Sue Brown was reunited with her parents, K.R. and Agnes Trantham; older brother, Darrel Trantham; sister Kathy Lacey on January 5, 2022.
Born on February 1, 1949, in Medicine Lodge, Kansas, she was an amazing mother, sister, aunt and friend to all.
Karen owned a convenience store and motel while living in Attica, Kansas, and was known to help anyone in need no matter what time of the night. She later moved to Alva, Oklahoma, where she worked in the print shop at Northwestern Oklahoma State College before relocating to California to find her most rewarding career of all: being Grandma Bert. Helping care for her daughter Tracie’s children – Emily and Mason – gave Karen great joy, which was added to later in life by her son, Ty, making her a grandma twice more with Rey and Zander. Karen loved gardening, crafting, and reading books with many people sharing in her knowledge and creations.
Missing Karen will be her son, Tyrone Hughbanks of Tyrone, Oklahoma, along with her daughter, Tracie Hephner and husband Wade of Omaha, Nebraska, as well as her grandchildren, Emily and Mason Hephner and Rey and Zander Hughbanks. She will also be missed by her brother, Tom Trantham and wife Cecilia, sister-in-law Nancy Trantham, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Karen’s wish for no service has been honored as Karen did not want anyone to mourn her passing but rather celebrate the many memories made with her during her incredible life. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
