Kathryn Elaine Kimbrough, 54, of Great Bend, died Dec. 6 at her home. She was born Oct. 24, 1956, at Syracuse, the daughter of Loren and Peggy (Johnson) Thompson. She married Ronald Kimbrough on April 3, 1973, in Syracuse. She was a Kansas native with ties to California.
Mrs. Kimbrough was a volunteer at the High Rise in Great Bend, serving on the Recreation Commission for Bingo. She was a past president of the High Rise Tenant Council and good friend and confidant of many.
Survivors include her husband Ronald of Great Bend; one son, James Joseph Kimbrough II and his fiancée Caroline Claussen of St. John; two daughters, Peggy Vada Huson and her fiancé Samuel Holteen Jr. of Goodland, and Jeanna Lorraine Johnston and her husband Shawn of Larned; parents, Loren and Peggy Thompson of Macksville; two brothers, Tom Thompson and his wife Debbie of Ulysses, and Gary Thompson and his wife Tammy of Hudson; four sisters, Patricia Goodwin and husband Pat of San Antonio, Texas, Denise Diehl and husband Richard of Halstead, Donna Culver and husband Bill of Culver City, and Anita Scott and husband Rick of Macksville; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a sister, Susan Johnson.
Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Wednesday at Charter Funerals in Great Bend. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kathryn Kimbrough Memorial Fund.
