Kay Ellen Maneth

Kay Ellen Maneth, 82, passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at Brookdale Senior Living, Great Bend. She was born April 7, 1939, at Great Bend, to Samuel E. Dorfshaffer, Sr. and Ulanda E. (Brown) Dorfshaffer. She married William “Bill” Maneth Aug. 24, 1957, at Great Bend He died Jan. 16, 2015.

A lifetime Great Bend resident, Kay retired from Marmie Motors as the office manager on June 1, 2005, after 44 years of service. She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church. She sang and played the bass violin in the contemporary choir for over 30 years and served on the Pastoral Council. She was also a member of Red Hat Ladies. She volunteered at RSVP, CKMC, Heartland Cancer Center, and at blood drives. She enjoyed gardening in Bill’s yard. Kay especially loved spending time with her family.  

Survivors include, two sons, John Maneth and wife Sandy of Great Bend, and David Maneth and Angie of Maize; a brother, Samuel Dorfshaffer Jr. of Germany; a sister, Beverly Shewbart of Nickerson; five grandchildren, Samantha Asebedo and husband Matthew, Chad Maneth and wife Jennifer, Todd Maneth and wife Jamie, Mary Maneth, and Tara Mapel and husband Brian; and seven great grandchildren, Evelyn, Amelia, Dylan, Jaxon, Avery, Noah and Izzy. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill Maneth; a daughter, Jennifer Maneth; and a sister, Gloria Clothier. 

Visitation will be held from 1 to 9 p.m., Monday, May 10, 2021 at Bryant Funeral Home, with Altar Society rosary at 4 p.m., and Vigil service at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with Father Don Bedore presiding. Interment will be in the Great Bend Cemetery. Memorials have been designated to Alzheimer’s Association or Sunflower Diversified Services, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
