MACKSVILLE — Kenneth Brian Wood, age 64, passed away on April 2, 2022 at Pratt Regional Medical Center, Pratt, Kan. He was born on Mar. 27, 1958 at Larned, Kan., the son of Norman E. and Betty (Giebler) Wood. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Arts from Fort Hays State University and was a graduate of Valley Irrigation Technical School.  

Kenneth was a life-long farmer and a member of the St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Belpre, Kan., and the Kinsley Gun Club. On May 23, 1981, he married Sheila F. (Smith) at Hays, Kan., she passed away in 1996. On July 27, 1998, he married Melinda Rae (Jarnagin) at Pratt, Kan., she survives of the home.  

Other survivors include his mother, Betty Wood, Pratt, Kan.; four daughters, Janna Lee (Josh) Nelson, Marquette, Kan., Jamie Lauren (Eric) Weeks, Brownell, Kan., Jenna Lynn (Kyle) Loomis, Wichita, Kan., Janessa Leslie (Ryan) Asher, Wichita, Kan; a step-daughter, Shelby Rae Jarnagin, Pratt, Kan; a brother, Darrell N. (Natalie) Wood, Trousdale, Kan.; sister, Karen L. (Justin) Vosburgh, Macksville, Kan.; sister-in-law, Cynthia Lynn Wood, Trousdale, Kan.; father and mother-in-law, Leslie and Donna Symes, Cheney, Kan.; 11 grandchildren, Josie, Jaycee, Jaylin, Dakota, Dalton, Dracen, Kamden, Lindsey, Bailey, Aiden, Danni; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Norman E. Wood; a daughter, Jordan Lindsay Wood; his first wife Sheila F. Wood; a sister, Kathleen A. Wood and a brother Glen C. Wood. 

Visitation will be on Friday, Apr. 8, 2022 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Minnis Chapel, Macksville, Kan. A vigil service will be at 5 p.m. that same day at the St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Belpre, Kan. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Apr. 9, 2022 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Larned, Kan. with Reverend Father Bernard Felix. Burial will follow in the Farmington Cemetery, Macksville, Kan. Memorials may be given to St. Bernard’s Catholic Church or the Kinsley Gun Club in care of Minnis Chapel, P.O. Box 34, St. John, KS  67576.
