Kenneth Don Ukens, 73, of Great Bend, died Sept. 10 at his residence. Born Nov. 1, 1936, at Great Bend, he was the son of Wesley and Ella (Petersen) Ukens. He was a yard man for Foster Lumber, Everitt Lumber and Nicholson Lumber Yard.

A lifetime Great Bend resident, Mr. Ukens was a member of First Bible Baptist Church. He was born again into a Christian life on July 17, 2009.

Survivors include two sons, Mark Ukens and wife Teresa of Great Bend and Kenneth "Eugene" Ragan and wife Staci of Ellinwood; three daughters, Sherry Schaffer of Aberdeen, Md., DeEtta Komarek and husband Frank of Florissant, Colo., and Lorinda Hanes and husband Joe of Ellis; one sister, Beverly Juergensen of Great Bend; one brother, Allen Ukens of Pawnee Rock; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in passing by one grandson, Matthew Komarek, and an infant great-grandchild.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Bible Baptist Church, Great Bend, with Pastor Kevin Franklin officiant. Interment will be at Peace Lutheran Church Cemetery in Albert. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Bryant Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to a fund for the church, in care of the funeral home.
