Kenneth “Kenny” Brummer, 66, died Aug. 25 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Born Sept. 25, 1945 in Beloit, he was the son of Joseph I. and Kathryn (Thomas) Brummer. On Oct. 28, 1967 he married Beth Melton in Beloit. She survives. A resident of Great Bend since 1981, coming from Beloit, he retired from Barton Community College in 2007, working in the maintenance department and bus driving. Previously he worked at Great Bend Auto as a machinist. After retirement, he worked for Sterling House and Prince of Peace Parish.
Mr. Brummer served in the National Guard. He was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish.  He was an avid Kansas City Royals baseball fan, Kansas City Chiefs fan and fisherman. He was a regular Red Cross blood donor.
Survivors include his wife, Beth Brummer, of the home; one son, Tony Brummer and wife Sarah of Paola; two daughters, Kendis Brummer and Clint Johnson of Hutchinson; Angie Hicks and Eric Stevenson of Great Bend; four sisters, Loretta Krone of McPherson, Dorlan Kersh of Tyler, Texas, Elaine Donahoo of Aurora, Colo., and Joan Laraby of Great Bend; four brothers, Gerald Brummer, Roland Brummer and Clarence Brummer, all of Beloit, and Virgil Brummer of Concordia; and six grandchildren, Adalyn Brummer, Brett Brummer, Malcolm Deason, Ivy Williams, Fain Johnson, and Hailey Hicks. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Arlene Fischer.
A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday at Bryant Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10;30 a.m. on Friday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Great Bend with Father Reginald A. Urban officiating. Friends may visit from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Prince of Peace Parish in care the funeral home.
