Kenneth Walter Matson, 89, of Great Bend, and formerly of Seward, passed away on March 6, 2016, at Great Bend Health & Rehabilitation Center in Great Bend. Born on September 8, 1926, he was the son of Walter E. and Martha (Satela) Matson. He grew up in Fitchburg, Mass. In 1945, he married Laura Kent in Fitchburg, Mass. She died in 1951. In 1956, he married LuWana Adams Barney. They lived in Fortuna, Calif. She died in 1990. On April 12, 1993, he married Delfina Remedio in Cebu, Phillippines. They lived in Dexter, Maine. In 2003 after traveling the world and seeing much of the USA he settled down in Seward. He was a farmer.  
Mr. Matson enlisted in the Army Air Corps in November 1943 and served in Occupied Japan from February to December 1945. He was discharged in November 1946.
Survivors include his wife, Delfina Matson of Great Bend; one son, Eric Matson and his wife, Peggy of Auburn, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Galyn Haake and her husband, Terry of Carlsbad, N.M., and Gloria Siefkes and her husband, John of Great Bend; 17 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; two wives; and three sons, Herbert Matson, Kerry Matson and Mark Matson.
Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 11, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Great Bend with Bishop Peter Solie presiding. According to Ken’s wishes, cremation has been chosen. There will be no viewing or visitation. Memorials may be made in care of the family.
