MCKINNEY, Texas — Kimberly Dawn Burkhart died at her home in McKinney, Texas, on May 13, 2015. Born April 4, 1969, in Great Bend, she was the daughter of Cliff and Barbara Burkhart. She was employed by American Airlines as an International flight attendant. She served as an MP in the United States Army and was active in Desert Storm.
She is survived by her parents; a son Tristen; brothers Kerry (Lisa) Burkhart and family, and Korey (Alyson) Burkhart and family; uncles, Jim Edwards and family, Dean Edwards and family, and Scott Edwards and sons Austin and Hunter; aunt Denise Schmitt and family; and many friends and coworkers, including her bestie Diana Dawson. She was preceded in death by her fiancé, the love of her life, Steve Brown; cousin Scott Edwards; and grandparents Jim and Ann Edwards.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 29, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend. Kim was an animal activist whose passion led to fostering rescued dogs. It would be her wish that any  memorials be to Sheree’s Dog Rescue, 820 Wooded Creek Lane, McKinney, TX 75071, or you may leave them at the lunch after the funeral.
