NEWTON — Kimberly Denise Hessman, 57, died May 22, 2016 at Newton.
Kimberly was born June 25, 1958 at Hoisington Lutheran Hospital, now Clara Barton. She was the daughter of Marvin Basye and Eunice Brack (Basye).
She was crowned the Little Princess of Hoisington in the 1963 Labor Day Parade. Kim and her family moved from Hoisington to Stafford when she started third grade. She graduated from Stafford High School in 1976 and wore red, white and blue tassels for the Centennial. Kim attended Dodge City Community College and graduated from Pratt Community College.
She met her husband, Ron Hessman, in Dodge City and they were married March 23, 1984. They were parents to two children, Chandra and Brandon. They lived in Liberal and Turpin, Okla., before moving to Stafford.
She leaves to mourn, her mother, Eunice Dreher and husband Melvin; a sister, Gina (Basye) Gould, Cheney; a daughter, Chandra Spicer, Newton; a son, Brandon Hessman, Newton; six grandchildren, Alexia, Kason and Taleeya Spicer, Camden and Tenlee Hessman and Kolyn Sauceda, all from Newton; stepmother, Pam Basye Moon; stepbrothers, Wayne Dreher, Dean Dreher, Aaron King; and stepsisters, Diane and Debbie Dreher, Amy Harris, April Green. She was preceded in death by her father, Marvin and her brother, Byron “Butch” Basye.
The funeral service is scheduled at 11 a.m. Friday, May 27, at Minnis Chapel, Stafford. Burial will be at the Stafford Cemetery. Memorials may be made as a Love Gift to the family, in care of the chapel.
