Larry Dean Shaw 1955 - 2017

Larry Dean Shaw, 61, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017. An avid KU basketball fan and fisherman, Larry loved people, family gatherings, attending yearly NCAA basketball tournaments with his son, and was always helping others.
Larry was born on Sept. 20, 1955, in Maywood Calif. He married Linda Linenberger on Nov. 22, 1989, in Oklahoma, with whom he shares a son, Dylan Shaw, both surviving, of Wichita.
Larry had been employed as a truck driver for various companies in the area for several years; most recently, he was employed by Calm Creek Carriers in Lyons. He attended elementary school, until third grade, at Liberty Blvd School, in South Gate, Calif., before the family was moved to Kansas, where he completed high school and graduated from Lyons High School. He later attended Kansas State University, from 1973-1974; Hutch Juco 1974-1975; and the University of Kansas from 1975-1976.
Larry is also survived by a sister, Glenda Swander of Lee’s Summit, Mo.; a niece, Sarah Swander of Lee’s Summit, Mo.; two nephews, Stewart Swander of Mission and David Shaw of Salina; three grand-nieces; one grand-nephew; John and Diana Howard and extended family, all of Great Bend; the Linenberger family, of Wichita; as well as many friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Barbara (Massie) Shaw; father Glenn Shaw; brother Gary Shaw; sister Cynthia Turner; brother-in-law Steven Swander; paternal grandparents Wendell and Mary Shaw; and maternal grandparents Ross and Ruby Massie.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to The Larry Shaw Memorial Fund, c/o Lyons State Bank in Lyons.
