Lelia A. Thompson, 94 died Wednesday, Nov. 27 at Sterling Presbyterian Manor, Sterling. Born Aug. 5, 1919, at Arpelar, Okla., she was the daughter of Boone and Virgie Mae (Ezell) Turner. She married Norman Thompson March, 26, 1938, at McAlester, Okla. He died March 18, 2002.
A cook for Unified School District 428 in Great Bend, Mrs. Thompson was a long time resident of Great Bend since 1952 coming from Kiowa.
Mrs. Thompson was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Great Bend. She was an active member of the Jeremiah Howard Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution.
Survivors include: Two sons, Curtis Thompson and wife Bernice of Sterling, and David Thompson of Bowling Green, Ky.; two daughters, Betty Anderson and husband Duane of Winfield, and Karen Barefield and husband Bruce of Minneapolis; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sister, Mary Wiysel.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2, at the First Presbyterian Church in Great Bend with the Rev. Dr. Scott V. Solether officiating. Interment will be at Great Bend Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. Sunday at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend. Memorials are suggested to Sterling Presbyterian Manor, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
