HOISINGTON — Leonard Staudinger, 68, died May 1 at his residence in rural Hoisington. Born April 8, 1943, in Great Bend, he was the son of Anton and Agnes (Zeman) Staudinger. On June 13, 1970, he married Mary Ann Jacobs at Russell. A lifetime resident of rural Barton County, he was a hunter safety instructor for 25 years.
Mr. Staudinger served in the U.S. Army Reserve for seven years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dorrance, Knights of Columbus Council 2630 in Odin, Coronado Assembly 4th degree, board member of Beaver Grain, former board member of Rural Water District Russell County and Barton Farm Bureau.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Keith Staudinger and wife Theresa of Wilson; three daughters, Karen Marsell and husband Doug of Russell, Cheryl Bean and husband Dave of Topeka, and Michelle Brokes and husband Allan of Wilson; two sisters, Clara Stithem and husband Jack of Salina and Roselle Williams and husband Dennis of Vancouver, Wash.; a brother, Raymond Staudinger of Hoisington; and seven grandchildren, Allison, Andie and Anna-Marie Marsell, Ashley and Austin Bean, and Cade and Lane Brokes. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Dubuque with Father James Hoover officiating. Burial will be at St. Catherine Cemetery in Dubuque. Friends may visit from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home and after 6 p.m. at the church. A vigil service, followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary, will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
