Leroy E. Weathers 1933 - 2021

Leroy E. Weathers, 87, passed away September 23, 2021, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born on December 2, 1933, at Great Bend, to George Edward & Edith Marie (Erbe) Weathers. He married Juanita Eva Richter September 22, 1957 at Great Bend.  She died January 31, 2018.

A lifetime Great Bend resident, Leroy started as a serviceman for Centel in 1960, eventually retiring in 1995 as the Divisional Customer Service Supervisor. He was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ and Kiwanis. He held past memberships with Pawnee Valley Scout Museum, board of directors for Great Bend Economic Development Commission, 4-H club of Great Bend, Boy Scouts of America leader, a former member and past president of Great Bend Chamber of Commerce, past chairman of the 3i Show, and the Ambassador’s Club. He served in the United States Army stationed in Germany, obtaining the rank of Master Sergeant.  

Survivors include, two sons, Ron Weathers and wife Lisa of Great Bend, and Terry Weathers and wife Sara of Hutchinson; a brother, Larry Weathers and wife Deanne of Great Bend; five grandchildren, Kristopher Weathers, Korbin Weathers, Emily Reed and husband Tyler, Erin Givens and husband Kassidy, and Michaela Weathers; and nine great grandchildren, Nicholas, Mason, Payton, Hunter, Dallas John, Jensen, Cooper and Cohen. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Juanita Weathers. 

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, September 27, 2021 at Bryant Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Great Bend, with Pastor Michael Munz presiding. Interment will be in Great Bend Cemetery, with Military Rites conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard. Memorials have been designated to First Congregational United Church of Christ, in care of Bryant Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
