LA CROSSE — LeRoy H. Reifschneider, 88, died Oct. 31, 2015, at Locust Grove Village in La Crosse. Born Nov. 1, 1926, near Hargrave, he was the son of Jacob and Molly (Eckes) Reifschneider. On Nov. 20, 1947, he married Marie Holopirek at the United Methodist Church in La Crosse. She preceded him in death on Nov. 14, 2014. A lifelong resident of Rush County, he was a cattleman and farmer, and owned and operated the Rush County Sale Barn in La Crosse before his retirement.
Mr. Reifschneider was a member of the United Methodist Church in La Crosse, and the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association.
Survivors include, two sons, Daryl “PeeWee” Reifschneider and Bruce Reifschneider (Bernie), both of La Crosse; one daughter, Donna Schmidt (Rick), of La Crosse; seven grandchildren, Scott Schmidt, Kelly Torrey, Kerri Tuzicka, Michael Reifschneider, Stefanie Griffin, Lacey Reifschneider, and Jake Reifschneider; and seven great-grandchildren, Leah Torrey, Tyson Torrey, Grayson Tuzicka, Maci Reifschneider, Brody Reifschneider, Kalli Griffin, and Treyton Griffin. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; three brothers, Harold Reifschneider, Henry Reifschneider, and Ed Reifschneider; and five sisters, Helen Appel, Katie McMillan, Esther Murray, Ida Crotinger, and Molly Bott.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today at the United Methodist Church in La Crosse with the Reverend Janice Farrell officiating. Interment will be at the La Crosse City Cemetery.
