ELLINWOOD – Lila L. Young, 84, died Dec. 25 at Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood. She was born March 16, 1926, at Vader, Wash., the daughter of Douglas H. and Alline Eaton Towers. She married Charles Norman Young Sept. 14, 1947, at Milton-Freewater, Ore. He died Dec. 29, 2000. A resident of Woodhaven, she was a retailer and homemaker.

Young was a member of Toastmasters International, Atascadero Community Church, Atascadero, Calif., and Immanuel United Church of Christ in Ellinwood.

Survivors include: One son, the Rev. Larry Young of Ellinwood; one daughter, Cheryl Young of Santa Barbara, Calif.; two sisters, Carol Jean Clark of Springfield, Ore., and Edna Mae Meador of San Jose, Calif.; one sister-in-law, Janet Black of Atascadero, Calif.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Ellinwood with the Rev. Debra Rains officiating. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.
