CHASE — Lillian E. Ricker, 85, died Feb. 10th at Rice County District Hospital in Lyons. Born Feb. 14, 1927 in Bushton, she was the daughter of Edward W. Koch and Grace M. Flannery Koch. On June 8, 1947 she married Franklin F. Ricker in Bushton. A lifetime resident of Rice County, she was a valedictorian graduated from Bushton High school in 1945 and a valedictorian graduating from Sterling College in 1959. She was an English and Reading teacher at Chase Junior High School from 1947-1959 and a 4th grade teacher at Central School in Lyons from 1964-1988.
Mrs. Ricker was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ellinwood, the Rice County Retired Teacher Association, on the board for Rice County Council on Aging and a member of the chase Senior Center.
Survivors include her husband, Franklin Ricker, of the home; two daughters, Charlotte A. (Jim) Gates of Hutchinson and Annette E. (Franklin C.) Cain, of Sterling; a brother, Harold Koch of Holyrood; four grandchildren; and on great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Loudenback.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ellinwood with the Rev. Jeff Frakes officiating. Burial will be at the Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery in Ellinwood. Visitation will be held from 1 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the St. John’s Lutheran Church or the Good Samaritan Care Givers, in Lyons.
