Linda Ann (Burr) Cannon

Linda Ann (Burr) Cannon went to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, Nov. 23, 2025, after bravely and faithfully battling leukemia for more than a year. She was surrounded by love, strength, and the prayers of many who cherished her.

Linda was born on Sept. 12, 1970, in Liberal, Kan., to James Burr and Mary Roderick. She attended Lincoln Elementary, West Junior High, and graduated from Liberal High School in 1989. She continued her education at Seward County

Community College and Fort Hays State University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree.

While living in Liberal, Linda attended Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church and was deeply involved in youth and girls’ groups.

Her faith, compassion, and heart for service were evident early in her life and remained constants throughout it.

After moving away from Liberal, Linda began her career with the Great Bend Co-op and later the American Plains Co-op, where she devoted 28 years of service before retiring in August 2025. She truly loved her work and the people she served.

Linda often joked fondly about the “old, cranky farmers” who came in and gave her a hard time, people she deeply cared about and missed greatly after retiring. In addition, she worked evenings with Eldercare for several years, where she built meaningful relationships and shared countless stories of the wonderful people she was honored to help. Serving others was not just something Linda did-it was who she was.

Linda was married to the love of her life, Joe Cannon, for 27 years. Together they shared a home filled with love, laughter, and many beloved dogs over the years. Linda adored her “fur babies” and faithfully walked them every day-if they would cooperate.

She was a passionate and loyal fan of Great Bend teams, the University of Kansas, and the Kansas City Chiefs and the Kansas City Royals. If one of her teams was playing-especially football-you could find Linda watching, fully decked out in her gear, cheering louder than anyone else in the room.

Linda believed deeply in caring for herself so she could care for others. She loved working out with her trainer, never missed a nail appointment, and faithfully kept up with her massages and chiropractic visits. She lived with intention and joy, valuing balance, health, and happiness.

Linda was preceded in death by her father, James Burr; her younger brother, Spencer Hardee; her mother-in-law, Ruth

Cannon; a brother-in-law, Mike Cannon; her grandparents, Floyd and Esther Burr and Morton and Carole Widiger; and three of her beloved dogs. She is survived by her devoted husband, Joe Cannon, and their dogs, Chief and Bandit; her mother, Mary Roderick, and stepfather, Rick; her sister, Carla Burr; her brother, Nathan Hardee, and sister-in-law, Vi; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family and lifelong friends who loved her dearly.

Bringing joy to others genuinely made Linda happy. She was known for her smile, her kindness, and her quiet acts of service.

Linda gave of herself freely and lovingly, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her. Her legacy of compassion, faith, and generosity will live on through the countless lives she touched.

A celebration of Linda’s life will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2026, at the City of Great Bend Events Center, 3111

10th St. in Great Bend, Kan. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Golden Belt Humane Society, 151 S. U.S. Hwy 281, Great Bend, KS 67530 in loving memory of Linda Ann (Burr) Cannon.
