LoRee Frances Irwin 1915-2011

HAYS — LoRee Frances Irwin, 96, Hays, formerly of Hill City and Hoisington, passed away Saturday, Nov. 26 at her home. She was born on Jan. 16, 1915 in Bogue to Clarence and Besse (Hutton) Stuchlik. She married Forrest Irwin on Aug. 12,1947. He preceded her in death in 1995.

She was a beautician and homemaker. She was active in supporting the Arts Councils in Great Bend and Hays. She spent her time at Barton Community College and Fort Hays State University Art Department working on her pottery. She was a long time supporter of Smoky Hills Public Television, donating her work and her time for their auctions.

She is survived by a son, Bruce Irwin and wife Sandi of Cape Fair, Mo.; daughter-in -law, Lou Irwin of Manhattan; four grandchildren, Michael Irwin and wife Sarah of Great Bend, Mark Irwin of Great Bend, Amy Kesavan and husband Vasan of New York City and Susan VanBoening and husband Simon of Camp Lejeune, N.C.; a sister-in-law, Loree Sunday of Tacoma, Wash. and six great grandchildren, Alayna Irwin, Adelyn Irwin, Grant Irwin, Trenton VanBoening, Rhett VanBoening, Wyatt VanBoening and a Kesavan baby due this month.

She was preceded in death by her husband Forrest and a brother, Hubert Stuchlik.

Memorial services will be held at Brock’s North Hill Chapel on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012 at 11 a.m.
